The paper develops a framework for the analysis of the impact of technology sharing—free and open source on the software market. Using a two-sided market, the study investigates the free and open source sotware (OSS) firms interactions with proprietary firms. The model results suggest that the presence of OSS impacts the proprietary firm profits, wage offer, and programmers hired.
