Currently, European cities are facing a growing problem of pollution. One of the major factors contributing to urban environmental pollution is a constant increase in the number of cars congesting cities.  Road traffic is a major source of air pollution in cities. An efficient way of dealing with this problem may be the promotion and development of eco-friendly public transport, including trolleybuses.

The paper presents and discusses differences in attitudes of trolley transport users towards various aspects of travelling in selected EU cities. The study covers four cities in developed countries: Brno, Eberswald, Parma and Salzburg, and two cities representing emerging markets: Gdynia and Szeged. The analysis was based on self-learning neural networks: Self Organizing Map (SOM) and Growing Neural Gas (GNG).
