ABSTRACT

The Trend in Well-Being:  What Do You Think Make You Happier?

The data shows that neither lower levels of income in equality nor higher rates of government redistribution make us happier: whereas high average income and economic freedom among the strongest correlates the subject of well-being.  The overall happiness of individuals depends on shortfall between aspirations and attainments in each domain of satisfaction (such as income, job, health, etc.) and their relative importance of each domain in individual utility function.  With regard to macroeconomic policy, reducing unemployment and inflation increases happiness.  In this paper Index of Economic Freedom and the World Values Survey Data will be used in order to compare economic of happiness among individuals in developed and developing nations.   Clearly, major political events may influence happiness.
