The Dept. of Med. Informatics evaluated two field trials: one with a caring organization for elderly citizens of the protestant church in north Germany and one with a catholic caring organization in southern Germany. The tested system was a passive monitoring system for single households. The key results are in accordance with prior evaluations and demonstrate that social factors are as important for the acceptance of assistive technology as system performance. The results of the field trials are discussed with similar studies internationally.
