The current situation in the Polish labour market is difficult. To be sure the total index of unemployment is at the moment below 10% which sounds optimistic, but it is necessary to take into consideration, that it was achieved when a large number of Polish citizens worked abroad. The very difficult situation occurs in a group of young people (unemployment rate is over 25%). At the same time representatives of the younger generation represented the biggest part of Polish foreign workers. So, there is a real, complicated problem, which is connected to several difficult dilemmas for young people:
  • To stay in Poland or to go abroad becoming an emigrant ?
  • If to stay in Poland - to look for a hired labour or to become a entrepreneur ?
  • If to become an entrepreneur - to create his/her own business based on his/her resources or using external aid ?

The main aim of this paper is a precise identification and full characterization of the dilemmas.

Data: a questionnaire survey among students in a large, non-public college in Łódź, specialized in Computer Science. The surveys were conducted on independent two samples of working students: n1 = 200 (CSR research) and 106 working students n2 = 106 (Intuition research). Surveys were realized by PAPI technique (auditorium surveys).

Methods: literature review, statistical analysis (mainly descriptive statistics), case study (on the basis of the author’s own experiences in the line of ICT).

Expected results: There are several instruments created and used for promotion and facilitation of entrepreneurship in this new technology area (Cieciura, 2012; Piecuch, 2013). The important aspect, missing in earlier research, is the protection of authors with interesting business ideas against theft of their ideas by experts who evaluate those ideas (Myers, 2004). Such an evaluation is necessary before potentially receiving external aid from potential investors. Having precise description of the idea, the potential investor may no longer be interested in collaborating with the innovator and sharing with him/her possible benefits. This aspect that should be solved is a very important one. As a result of my work, the good and bad points connected with various possible career paths and adequate recommendations for many Polish young people entering the labour market at present will be prepared.
