Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Michael Burda is a Professor of Economics at Humboldt University of Berlin. Since 1993 he has served as Director of the Institute of Economic Theory II at Humboldt University and since 2007 he has been a visiting professor at the European School of Management and Technology (ESMT). His research centers on macroeconomics and the economics of labor markets. In 1998, he received the Gossen Prize of the German Social Policy Association. In 2009 he coauthored the textbook Macroeconomics: A European Text, Oxford Press. Professor Burda is also a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London and the Institute for the Study of Labor in Bonn.
