88th International Atlantic Economic Conference
Miami, Florida
17-20 October, 2019

The 88th International Atlantic Economic Conference will be held in Miami, 17-20 October 2019. Known as the gateway to Latin America, this southernmost major U.S. city is home to a large Spanish speaking population. You will be mesmerized by the South American and Caribbean cultural connection Miami offers to this lively and tropical locale.

The city's name originated from the native Mayaimi tribe which inhabited this particular area of South Florida in the 1600's. By 1869, Miami officially became a city after local businesswoman Julia DeForest Tuttle suggested to American industrialist Henry Flagler that he should extend his railroads to the then infant city. Today, Julia is known as the "Mother of Miami" and is credited as the only woman to have ever founded a major U.S. city.

Steeped in the welcoming warmth of the Florida sun, Miami is the cultural, economic and financial center of South Florida. In greater downtown Miami, you will find one of the largest concentrations of international banks in the United States. Culturally, Miami’s diverse population boasts a zestful variety of culinary and artistic delights. Travel to Little Havana and sip on a signature mojito. Visit the Pérez Art Museum Miami, boasting a wide array of modern and contemporary works. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architects, Herzog and de Meuron, the museum's edifice seemingly blends art galleries with beautiful views of Biscayne Bay and hanging gardens. Miami is a tropical destination you will not soon forget.

The mission of the conference is to create a platform where economists and finance experts from academe, government, and the private sector can present their research results, exchange ideas and network in a collegial environment. Meetings also provide opportunities for participants to renew acquaintances and to forge new ones. Distinguished delegates from around the world gather to present, discuss, and exchange valuable information in the fields of economics, business and finance. Participants share drafts of their research with their session colleagues 30 days in advance of the meeting to facilitate dialogue at the conference.

We invite you to take part in this opportunity to gain international insight and perspective in the tropical city of Miami. The conference also helps attendees stay up to date on research associated with their fields. Miami is a city rich with culture. We look forward to seeing you in Miami!

The conference headquarters and all conference sessions in Miami will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables.
