212 CURRENT ECONOMIC ISSUES

Saturday, 19 October 2019: 9:00 AM-11:00 AM

The situation in the world economy is characterized by globalization and integration. Both processes are visible in the international and interregional exchange of products, services and influence social life and culture. The main advantages of both processes are: trade and transactions, capital and investment movements, migration of people and dissemination of knowledge. Among disadvantages one may list polarization of societies and dissemination of crisis. In fact, now a day, both processes influence not only international but also domestic economies. Therefore, issues that are currently discussed by scholars must concern also aspects of globalization and integration. European Union broadening as well as exiting EU bring a number of consequences. Identification of integration and disintegration process, especially its economic and social aspects, seems to be extremely important. Europe has been also suffering from problems connected with massive arrivals of refugees from Africa and Asia, and terrorist threat. Ageing of societies is another important problem of developed economies world-wide. It requires essential changes in pension systems, social policy and adoption health care to new challenges. Situation in labor market, especially diversity in managements, is also often discussed topic by researchers and politicians. Who has been trying to recognize if gender, cultural, religious, etc. diversity influence the financial performance of companies. One of the newest directions of research in social and economic sciences is application of neurosciences to recognize decision processes or consumer behavior. So-called experimental economics is the application of experimental methods to study economic questions. Experiments are used to help understand how and why markets and other exchange systems function as they do. Experimental economics have also expanded to understand institutions and the law.
