The paper is a joint work with Professor Yanyun Zhao of Renmin University of China.  It will present and discuss major theoretical aspects in the construction of a regional or sub-area CGE model for research and policy uses in developing countries in Asia. As a case-study, the paper will focus chiefly on a major developing and high-growth East Asia economy, namely China. However, the relevance of our considerations and orginal contributions in this field should be readily applicable to sub-area CGE modelling in simiar economies in the region and beyond. It is also of interest to academic and policy researchers and economic modellers.

Keywords: Economic Development and Growth, Regional CGE Modelling, Developing Asia, Economic Policy Analysis.
