THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC CONDITION OF POLAND IN RELATION TO EU
MEMBERS STATES – ANALYSIS AND DIAGNOSIS
In the bibliography of the subject, emphasis is placed on the connection between the capital market and economy. The article presents an attempt to examine, socio-economic condition of Poland, including areas of capital market and economy, on the basis selected EU member states. The synthetic measure of development was created to solve this problem. This measure help to explain multivariative issues like level and development of economy in studied objects (here Poland and EU member states) and objectify it by one number. Therefore, it is referred to as the synthetic measure. In the construction of this kind of measure is the qualification of diagnostic variables is very important. Particularly, this should be variables which express level and development of mulivariative issues. In this research there are socio-economic variables like inflation, unemployment, HDI (Human Development Index), GDI (Gender-Related Development Index), GEM (Gender Empowerment Measure) and indices for national stock markets. The classification for countries was constructed on the basis of the synthetic measure. Data from the years 2000-2007 was used for this purpose.
