Development of Road Transport Enterprises and Integration of Poland with the EMU

Main objective of the paper

In the article we discuss various activities that road transport companies undertake in order to adjust their companies to functioning on European Common Market. In majority of the cases firms concentrates their efforts on searching for new business partners and export markets as well as introducing innovative solutions and more developed offer. Among those aspects more and more often arises the question about results of Poland’s accession to the Economic and Monetary Union whether it will have positive consequences for their economic activities.
Taking into consideration the present political and economic situation in the country we have formulated the following research question:
What are the potential benefits and costs of introducing the euro in Poland in the opinion of road transport companies?
Data/methodology

To judge entrepreneurs’ attitudes towards the euro introduction the authors conducted quantitative research based on the tool of electronic questionnaire directed to road transport companies by e-mail. The objective of this research was to recognize opinions of entrepreneurs of companies concerning consequences of Poland’s accession to the EMU. The detailed purpose was analysis of the economic integration issues having in mind development potential of transport companies.
Results
The broad analysis will give a full understanding of how attractive is introduction of the euro in Poland from the perspective of a single entrepreneur. Moreover, we will present pro-development attitudes expresed by transport companies.
